We’re living in a Post-Toronto musical world. Drake, Pressa, Tory Lanez, Nav, Kardinal Offishal, and Jimmy Prime have built upon the foundation of music released by artists k-os, K’naan and Saukrates to shape the sound of modern Hip-Hop, melding Reggae, R&B and Rap with their own Canadian Tinge. Following in that tradition, Toronto native-turned Amsterdam resident JayJay Joshua follows in that tradition of quality Canadian music. Clearly influenced by artists like Drake and Pressa, the jet-setter has forged his own sound and made his own way in the music business.
In one of his more recent singles “They Ain Ridin'”, he flew Pressa out to Amsterdam for the feature. The song, produced by Victorino, has Pressa and Jay Jay Joshua trading off braggadocious verses over a catchy beat. That isn’t all JayJay Joshua has to offer either. He’s bilingual, rapping in English and Dutch. He also recently teased a Tory Lanez collaboration that’s caught a lot of traction. That song, “Watching You”, featuring Tory and Boeuf, is hopefully coming soon. For something a little more trans-Atlantic, check out rapper JayJay Joshua.
