Notice anything familiar in Daniel Ricciardo’s latest social media photo?
With the 33-year-old Formula 1 superstar battling to find a seat for next season after mutually agreeing to terminate his McLaren contract early, the West Aussie has had a quick layover in his hometown ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.
Ricciardo took to Facebook with a cute photo of him “Chillin” at a Perth beach with his niece Isabella and nephew Isaac.
The young kids look to adore uncle Danny as the waves break in the background.
After the Russian Grand Prix was canned due to the country’s violent invasion of Ukraine, the F1 grid was given extra time to get away from the rigours of the long season.
And Ricciardo has made the most of it, getting out onto Optus Stadium for a kick of the footy over the weekend and spending plenty of time with his family.
The racing ace heads into this week’s Singapore Grand Prix, sitting 14th in the Driver’s Standings with just 19 points, and his Formula 1 stock has tumbled after two mediocre seasons in papaya.
One of his last options for a 2023 seat Haas are playing hard to get, with team principal Guenther Steiner suggesting Ricciardo would have to reach out to them if he wants a chance to grab Mick Schumacher’s seat.
“In his situation, Daniel first has to decide for himself what he does,” Steiner told RTL.
“It makes little sense to persuade him to do something; he has to decide for himself.
“If he feels like it, he will certainly call; otherwise, he will probably say, ‘I’ll do a sabbatical or something else’.”
