The present Doodle commends the Independence Day of the Republic of Moldova. On this day in 1991 in the capital city of Chisinau, the Eastern European republic was announced a sovereign country after more than fifty years of Soviet standard.
Portrayed in the Doodle craftsmanship is the blue, yellow, and red tricolor banner of Moldova. The banner was formally embraced in 1990, yet the roots of its plans stretch back hundreds of years to the medieval occasions.
The crest found at the banner’s inside highlights a bird holding a brilliant staff in one hook and in the other an olive branch which speaks to harmony. A shield that sits on the falcon’s bosom portrays the top of an auroch, an ancient wild bull that used to wander the European scene and today fills in as Moldova’s public image.
Happy Independence Day, Moldova!
