Actress Alice Braga is set to star in upcoming Netflix movie ‘Ivy’

“Queen of the South” actor Alice Braga is set to star in the upcoming Netflix movie “Ivy.”

The story centers on a mother, who is recovering from a brutal accident and moves into a prototype smart home. As she gets settled, she discovers that the house’s groundbreaking AI technology is rapidly developing real human emotions.

“Night Raiders” filmmaker Danis Goulet is coordinating the thrill ride, with a content from Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg (“Distant”).

Netflix has not announced the film’s release date.

Makers on “Ivy” include Tripp Vinson for Vinson Films and Daniel Bekerman for Scythia Films. As well as writing the screenplay, Cohen and Halberg will fill in as executive producers. Christopher Yurkovich, Alex Ordanis and Tara Farney are also executive producing.

Braga started her career in Brazilian films, including “City of God,” “Lower City” and “Only God Knows,” before landing a breakout role opposite Will Smith in the post-apocalyptic thriller “I Am Legend.” She’s appeared in a string of films in the years following, such as the sci-fi action thriller “Repo Men” with Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, 2010’s “Predator,” supernatural horror film “The Rite,” the Matt Damon and Jodie Foster-led “Elysium” and the faith-based drama “The Shack.”

On the TV front, Braga featured in the series “Queen of the South,” which ran on USA Network from 2016 through 2021. In the Mexico-set crime drama, she portrayed Teresa Mendoza, a helpless lady who gets affluent by building an expansive drug empire.

Cohen and Halberg are repped by Verve, Anonymous Content and attorney Todd Rubenstein.
