Web Desk for India Today China made history when it successfully attempted to deploy a rover on the surface of Mars. But the mission has stopped communicating. Chinese scientists are frantically trying to learn what has occurred on the Red Planet because the spacecraft, which was in hibernation for the winter, has not yet sent a signal back home.
According to the South China Morning Post, the rover was supposed to awaken from its sleep in December and re-establish contact with Earth. However, this has not yet occurred. According to the research, there is a likelihood that the sandstorms the rover endured substantially hindered its ability to use its solar panels to produce electricity.
The Utopian Planitia, where the rover is currently located, is thought to have been an ocean around a billion years ago. The rover has also transmitted data regarding the geological evolution and environmental changes in and surrounding its site.
In an attempt to achieve all three milestones in a single mission, China deployed an orbiter, a lander, and a rover to the Red Planet in 2020. The expedition landed on Mars in early 2021 and has been working ever since, both above the planet and on the soil of the alien planet.
